AVOID THE HOTTEST PARTS OF THE YEAR
The heat just isn't for me. Every time I see someone plan a vacation to Austin in the summer I have to shake my head.
CITY MAP / TEXAS / 81 SAVED PLACES
Austin has several popular neighborhoods that are all relatively close to one another compared to most cities. Coming from Chicago It took a while to get used to most of the uber rides clocking in at well under 10 minutes. My favorite part of town is the East Sixth neighborhood— not to be confused with "dirty sixth" where all the college kids like to drink. If you like to drink and eat, you can find everything you are looking for just by working your way from one end of East 6th to the other. I have spent a lot of time in Austin while filming commercials so this list is very much oriented towards blowing off a little steam in the evenings and weekends.

This is Austin, and "Keep Austin Weird" is the slogan. Dive into the counter culture that Austin has to offer. Go to a punk show, get all goth'd up and check out a dark wave show, grab a bolo and go two steppn'
